Nicole Kidman reveals importance of faith in her family life

Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman has revealed that she attends church with her family.

Kidman, 51, recently revealed that her Catholic grandmother played a major role in her faith and she and her husband, country music star Keith Urban, are ensuring that their two children, Sunday, 10, and Faith, eight, are also brought up in the faith.

“That’s how we are raising our children. Keith has his own beliefs but he comes, too,” Kidman, a Catholic, told Vanity Fair magazine, while discussing attending church as a family.

“I had a very Catholic grandmother, and I was raised praying, so that had massive impact,” she continued. “I wouldn’t say it’s absolutism, there’s constant questioning—I’m a wilful, feisty girl. For me it’s very important that I don’t have judgment. My dad would always say, ‘Tolerance is the most important thing’.”

Kidman also revealed that she has banned her children from using Instagram – a decision she said she does not regret, even if it has made her “unpopular”.

The actress told Vanity Fair she tried to maintain “boundaries” and keep them off social media.

She said: “They don’t have a phone and I don’t allow them to have an Instagram. I try to keep some sort of boundaries.”

Kidman also has two children, both in their 20s, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, both of whom were raised mainly by the Mission:Impossible star.

The full interview can be read in the May issue of Vanity Fair.
