New Hall’s pride as former pupil heads for rugby stardom
Rising rugby star Dominic Morris has all the talent to become “extremely successful” in the sport, his former Catholic school has said.
Morris made his Gallagher Premiership debut for Saracens on 27th April and went on to score his first Premiership try a week later, on 4th May, in his home debut, scoring two tries for Saracens in their dominant win over Exeter.
He was also part of the successful Saracens Storm side that won the Premiership Rugby Shield.
Growing up in Essex, Morris was recruited by Saracens aged 15 after they spotted him playing for New Hall School, in Chelmsford, Essex, and he has been in the club’s academy ever since.
Morris recently signed a professional contract extension with Saracens to extend his deal to 2020, while he continues to study for his undergraduate degree at university alongside his rugby career.
Owen Cobbe, director of boys’ sport at New Hall School, said: “New Hall is immensely proud of Dominic. “We have watched him develop into a fine young player over recent years.
“He has all the necessary attributes to be an extremely successful Premiership player and we wish him the best of luck in his Saracens career.”
Morris has returned to New Hall on numerous occasions to assist with coaching, most recently for a rugby masterclass organised for local school children and held at New Hall School.
