Job Reference: XAAAYA
Closing Date: 1st August 2018
CAFOD’s vision is a world transformed to reflect the Kingdom of God; a world where the rights and dignity of every person are respected and all have access to basic needs in life. We believe that women and men should share equally in shaping their societies and our world so that the gifts of creation are nurtured and shared by all for the common good.
For almost 60 years, CAFOD has grown as an expression of the compassion of the Catholic community of England and Wales to stand in solidarity with the poorest and most marginalised, regardless of faith, gender, race, ethnicity or other defining features.
As a leading agency in international development, humanitarian and advocacy work, our presence now extends to over 40 countries, supporting over 300 partners working with local communities worldwide. As our longstanding Director, Chris Bain, who has successfully led CAFOD for 15 years retires, we are now seeking a new leader to help us continue to have an even greater, positive impact on the lives of the poorest and forgotten across the world.
As Director, you will provide inspirational leadership which harnesses our faith identity, presenting a vision of CAFOD that deepens our role in the Catholic community of England and Wales and enables our international development, humanitarian and advocacy work to deliver our mission of service. As the executive leader and key public face of CAFOD you will also champion CAFOD’s professionalism, profile, influence and credibility within the UK NGO sector, Government and media by ensuring the delivery of CAFOD’s mission. You will lead and inspire our dedicated community of staff and volunteers and ensure that all CAFOD groups work together collaboratively to deliver our strategic directions
You will bring demonstrable, strategic leadership experience in a large complex organisation, with the credibility to work effectively with our many stakeholders and partners to help us achieve our goals. You will have a deep personal commitment to the Catholic faith and the cultural sensitivity and experience to work in our international and wonderfully diverse environment. If you share our drive to bring hope, compassion and solidarity to poor communities across the world, we would love to hear from you.
