Filipino devotional book tops Wahlberg’s Christmas list

Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg receives a 365-day Filipino devotional book from his wife every Christmas.

In fact, his wife, American model Rhea Durham, gives him two copies of the book – believed to be 365 Days with the Lord, a best-selling ‘bible diary’ published by a Filipino apostolate of the priests and brothers of the Society of St Paul – one to keep at home and one to bring with him on his travels, according to Relevant Magazine.

The 47-year-old devout Catholic has relied heavily on the book for structuring his daily prayers ever since a friend introduced him to it “eight or nine years ago”.

Speaking about his wife’s Christmas gift to him, the Hollywood tough guy told Relevant Magazine: “She knows that’s the one thing that I have to have before the end of the year to be able to start fresh on the first of the year and not miss a day. Three-hundred-and-sixty-five days a year in prayer.”

Earlier this year, the Transformers star revealed that his intense daily routine begins with 30 minutes of prayer in the early hours of the morning and The Catholic Universe previously reported that Wahlberg’s faith is of great importance to him.

Speaking to a vocations convention in 2016, Wahlberg, who first found fame as rap artist Marky Mark, the frontman of a hip-hop band called Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, said: “My Catholic faith is the anchor that supports everything I do in life.”
